Naveen Kumar, a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad and an important member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was killed in a confrontation by a combined team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) Noida unit and the Special Cell of Delhi Police in the Thana Kotwali area of Hapur late last night. The sharpshooter, who was wanted for multiple cases, suffered severe injuries during the encounter and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
He was sought in relation to a murder case filed at Farsh Bazar police station in New Delhi and under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Police reports state that he had more than 20 cases against him in both Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, including charges of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, and violations of MCOCA.
Authorities reported that Kumar had previous convictions in two Delhi cases. On May 23, a significant member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was apprehended for involvement in a fraudulent passport operation. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) detained Rahul Sarkar, responsible for managing the passport operations for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He has been placed in NIA custody for additional inquiry by the special court at Patiala House in New Delhi.
The NIA reported that they have learned the accused assisted gang members by providing fake passports, enabling their escape from the country after the crime. Among those he aided was Sachin Thapan, also known as Sachin Thapan Bishnoi, the primary suspect in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.
Rahul's detention is part of the NIA's probe into a case filed in August 2022, following orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The case centers on a plot by criminal gangs and syndicates to generate funds and enlist youths for criminal activities. Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster from India, gained notoriety as the leader of the 'Bishnoi gang,' a criminal syndicate allegedly connected to over 700 shooters worldwide. Although imprisoned since 2014, he is facing multiple accusations, including extortion and murder, which he has consistently refuted.
