The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Mohammad Haroon, a resident of Seelampur in Delhi, on charges of spying for Pakistan. Haroon is alleged to have been sharing vital security information with Muzammal Hussain of the Pakistan High Commission. The ATS has registered a case and further legal action is underway.

Lucknow: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh has detained Mohammad Haroon, accusing him of collaborating with a Pakistan-backed anti-national group to undermine India. Haroon, who lives in Delhi's Seelampur locality, is employed as a scrap dealer.

The defendant, together with Muzammal Hussain, an employee at the Pakistan High Commission, was unlawfully gathering funds under the guise of obtaining a visa. As per confidential intelligence obtained by the ATS, Haroon and Hussain exchanged significant security details with Pakistan and endeavored to jeopardize India's internal security.

Haroon, in collaboration with Muzammal Hussain, utilized multiple bank accounts to gather funds from individuals who had acquired visas, directing these funds towards activities against the nation. During questioning, it was uncovered that Haroon had familial ties in Pakistan, which led to his association with Muzammal Hussain during his visits there. Subsequently, Hussain provided Haroon with significant information and dispatched him to assist Pakistan's intelligence services. Muzammal Hussain, employed at the Pakistan High Commission, has been declared persona non grata by the Indian Government and has been instructed to leave the country.

The arrested individual, Mohammad Harun, had two mobile phones and Rs 16,900 in cash confiscated by authorities. The ATS has filed a case regarding this matter, and Harun will be presented in court for further proceedings. Previously, the UP ATS apprehended a young man in Varanasi for espionage activities benefiting Pakistan.

This operation took place in the Hanuman Phatak area, within the Nawapura locality of Adampur police station in Varanasi. The detainee, identified as Mohammad Tufail, is a local resident. Investigations by the ATS have uncovered that Tufail was affiliated with Tehreek-e-Labbaik, a terrorist group banned in Pakistan.
