Haryana Tightens Security: Spy arrested for sharing data with Pakistan
Devender Singh, 25, was arrested in Haryana's Kaithal on charges of sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence agents. The police have seized two electronic devices from his house and recovered 300 GB of data. The investigation of the case is on, and Devender is on a three-day police remand.
Following the strained relations between India and Pakistan, India is intensifying efforts to crack down on numerous spies within the nation. These individuals are reportedly in contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives and are leaking Indian intelligence. In a related development, Devender Singh, a 25-year-old resident of Kaithal in Haryana, has been apprehended for providing sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence agents.
Kaithal SP Astha Modi revealed that Devender had connections with four Pakistani intelligence officers, having visited Pakistan in November of the previous year and maintained regular communication with them. The suspect admitted to recording a video near the cantonment area in Patiala and transmitting it to the agents.
Devendra, the accused, is currently under police custody for three days. Authorities have searched his residence and confiscated two electronic gadgets. Approximately 300 GB of data has been retrieved from these devices by a cyber forensic lab and is currently under examination. Additionally, a forensic audit of his bank accounts is being conducted. The police mentioned that further investigation into the case is ongoing. Separately, following the arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra for disseminating sensitive information and maintaining contact with a Pakistani individual, the Odisha Police is probing her connection with another YouTuber from the region.
Previously, an additional espionage suspect was apprehended in Haryana. Jyoti Malhotra, a Hisar resident in Haryana, was detained for disseminating confidential information and maintaining regular contact with a Pakistani national. Puri Superintendent of Police Vineet Agarwal stated that they are coordinating with the Haryana Police regarding the issue.
Haryana's Director General of Police, Shatrujeet Kapoor, stated that numerous individuals were previously detained in the state for suspected espionage activities benefiting Pakistan. He mentioned that this action stemmed from increased vigilance and monitoring throughout Haryana.
