Ahmedabad's massive land clearance underway in Chandola

The municipal corporation in Ahmedabad's Chandola has planned to clear 2.5 lakh square metres of land by running bulldozers against illegal encroachments. In the first phase, 1.5 lakh square metres of land was vacated. As many as 3,000 police personnel and 25 SRP teams have been deployed in the operation.

Bulldozers have resumed activity in Chandola, Gujarat. On Tuesday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) took action against illegal encroachments in Chandola by using bulldozers. Previously, 1.5 lakh square meters of land was cleared, and today there are plans to remove encroachments from over 2.5 lakh square meters in the second phase. Currently, bulldozer operations are underway.

To ensure the operation proceeds smoothly, more than 3,000 police officers have been stationed at the site. Additionally, 25 SRP teams have been deployed there. A high-level meeting took place on Monday to assess the preparations for the second phase of clearing illegal encroachments in the Chandola area.

Senior officers are present on the spot

High-ranking members of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Police Commissioner GS Malik attended the meeting. In the initial phase, encroachments were cleared from 1.5 lakh square meters of land. For the second phase, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) planned to reclaim 2.5 lakh square meters of land from encroachers.

Sharad Singhal, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), stated, "In the initial phase, the corporation cleared approximately 1.5 lakh square meters of illegal encroachments. Measures were taken to ensure law and order during the initial phase of the encroachment crackdown. The second phase is set to commence today. A sufficient police presence has been established in the area, with senior officials on-site and the public providing their cooperation."

4 Lakh square meters of land will be free from encroachment

The anti-encroachment initiative by the AMC near Chandola Lake is among the largest in Gujarat's history. The objective is to reclaim over 4 lakh square meters of land from unauthorized settlers. Approximately 100 acres of this land have been unlawfully occupied by Bangladeshis.
