Rahul Dravid breaks Silence on Reports of Sanju Samson-Rajasthan Royals Rift
Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid has dismissed reports of differences between Sanju Samson and the team. "Sanju is an important part of the team and he is involved in every decision. The controversy started after a video in which Sanju was not seen in the team meeting.
Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid has recently dismissed reports of any rift between the franchise and captain Sanju Samson. In the press conference held before the match against Lucknow Super Giants, Dravid described all these reports as baseless and said that the team is united in the race for the playoffs.
The controversy started with a viral clip in which Sanju Samson was not seen attending the team meeting. In that meeting, Dravid was seen discussing with the support staff and some players. After this video surfaced, the news started coming out that there is a rift between Sanju and the team and there is a threat to his captaincy.
"I don't know where these reports are coming from. Sanju and I are on the same page. He's a very integral part of our team. He is involved in every decision and discussion. Sometimes, when you lose the game and things don't go right, you get criticism and we can take it on our performance, but we can't do anything about this baseless thing. The team spirit is really good, I am impressed with the hard work these guys put in. One thing that people don't understand is how sad it is when players don't perform well. "
Samson is unlikely to play in Saturday's match against Lucknow Super Giants as the franchise is awaiting the results of his injury scan. Samson was injured after scoring 31 runs in 19 balls during the match against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday. He retired in the middle of the match. Sanju was feeling uncomfortable after hitting a cut shot on Vipraj Nigam's ball, after which the physio examined him. Although he faced the next ball, he soon walked off the field. The match was tied, after which Delhi Capitals won the Super Over.
Rahul Dravid also said in the press conference, "Sanju felt a little pain in the stomach area. That's why we've gone for a scan. They've done a few scans today, so we're waiting for the results of those scans. And then when we get a little bit more clarity about the scan and the severity of the (injury), we'll take the next decision and see what happens." "
