Former CM Vijay Rupani's DNA match

Ex-Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani passed away in the Air India accident in Ahmedabad on June 12. A DNA confirmation was completed at approximately 11:10 am today. His body will be returned to his family and cremated in Rajkot.

Orders were placed to make the coffin

The bodies are being safely transported to their hometowns through ambulances. For this, 230 teams have been formed, who are in direct contact with the families of the deceased. As many as 192 ambulances and vehicles are on standby. The families of 11 of the foreign nationals who lost their lives in the accident are expected to reach Ahmedabad today.

An order has been placed to make 170 coffins to keep the bodies. About 100 of these coffins have been brought from Vadodara to Ahmedabad. The work of making the rest of the coffins is going on.

How the accident happened

On Thursday, Air India flight AI-171 crashed into the roof of the hostel of BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad within two minutes of taking off. There were 242 people on board, including crew members. All but one British citizen died in the crash. The next day, the hospital handed over eight bodies to the relatives, who were easily identified. However, most of the bodies were badly burnt and could not be identified, necessitating DNA testing.
