Amid escalating tensions, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has proposed peace talks with India, emphasizing the Kashmir issue as a key part of the discussions. After suffering losses in recent military conflicts, Pakistan seeks negotiations following India's strong retaliatory actions post-Pahalgam attack, including halting trade and suspending the Indus Water Treaty.

Following four days of defeat by India, Pakistan's strategy has reached a standstill. Initially, Pakistan requested a ceasefire, and now it is discussing negotiations with India. After the Pahalgam attack, when India terminated the Indus Water Treaty and halted all trade with Pakistan, Pakistan was challenging India. However, after its loss to India, its situation has worsened. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a significant statement regarding peace. On Thursday, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his willingness to engage in peace talks with India.

Shehbaz ready for talks 'For Peace'

On Thursday, Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif extended an offer for dialogue with India, expressing his nation's willingness to engage in talks 'for peace.' Shahbaz made this statement during his visit to Kamra Air Base in Punjab province, where he addressed the officers and soldiers who participated in the recent military confrontation with India. Shehbaz mentioned that the "requirements for peace" encompassed the Kashmir matter. India has consistently maintained that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have always been and will continue to be "essential and inseparable" parts of the nation.

Tension increased after Pahalgam attack

On April 22, terrorists killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam district of Jammu and Kashmir after questioning them about their religion. This incident heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. In response, India implemented significant measures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and halting all diplomatic relations. Additionally, India declared that all Pakistani nationals in the country should depart.

To avenge the Pahalgam terror attack, India carried out surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on the night of May 6 and early on May 7. In this strike, 9 terrorist bases were destroyed. More than 100 terrorists were killed in this.
