The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) found a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) among the wreckage of the Air India aircraft that crashed in Ahmedabad yesterday.

Aviation authorities emphasize the importance of the aircraft's black box, comprising the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, in understanding the cause of the disaster. Investigators are concentrating on recovering these devices to aid in piecing together the flight's last moments.

While the search effort at the crash location is ongoing, officials have yet to give an update on the retrieval of the black boxes, which could contain essential information to unravel the causes behind the unfortunate crash of the flight headed to London.

The flight, which was operating from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick on June 12, 2025, carried 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian national.

The Tata group-owned airline has set up a dedicated passenger hotline number, 1800 5691 444, to provide more information. Those calling from outside India can call +91 8062779200.

Miraculously, one person has survived the deadly crash, the airline authorities said, adding that the survivor was a British national of Indian origin.
