The exiting of a Turkish company in the Kanpur Metro project has increased the problems of the contractors. The company disappeared with Rs 80 crore, leaving the local office locked. The contractors allege that no action was taken by the UPMRC and the company's payments were stopped.

Turkey has involved itself in the Indo-Pak conflict, siding with Pakistan and consequently fostering animosity with India. As a result, Turkey is facing a boycott in India, with both Turkish and Pakistani products being shunned.

Amidst this scenario, significant news has emerged from Kanpur: a Turkish firm has absconded with 80 crore rupees belonging to contractors. The local office of the company was discovered locked, and locals along with guards at the site claim that the company departed without settling their wages.

The contractors claimed that following 'Operation Sindoor', company officials ceased answering their calls. Despite persistent inquiries and phone calls, the officials left the city. The victims attempted to contact the company officials in the presence of media personnel, but received no reply.

Meanwhile, one contractor presented a letter from the company and described how officials had informed him that payment would only be made if a discount of 30 to 40 percent was given. Now, all the officials have disappeared. The contractors assert that the UPMRC has not taken any action either. Currently, a memorandum has been submitted to the District Magistrate.

Initially, contractors mentioned that there were negotiations, but after the boycott campaign against Turkey, the company seemed unaware of its departure from the office. It has yet to pay any employee salaries. Media reports indicate that a Turkish company was awarded a contract to construct metro stations in Kanpur. Consequently, the company fled the country, withholding salaries amounting to crores of rupees for over 40 Indian workers.
