US Russia Relations: US President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone. During the conversation, the two leaders discussed the Ukraine war and the escalating conflict in the Middle East. US is continuing military operations against Iran. Regarding the conversation between two leaders, President Trump said he spoke with his Russian counterpart, Putin.
At a news conference in Florida, Trump confirmed his conversation with the Russian leader and said two sides discussed the war in Ukraine before discussing the situation in the Middle East. Responding to a question, Trump said, “Yes, I had a very good conversation with President Putin. There were a lot of people on the line, both from our side and his side. We were talking about Ukraine, which is just a never-ending fight.”

Trump said the conversation also discussed the personal tensions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. US President said that personal tensions between leaders of the two countries are a major factor in the failure to end Russia-Ukraine conflict. He said, “There’s a tremendous amount of hatred between President Putin and President Zelensky. They’re not able to get it together.” Despite the difficulties, Trump described the conversation as constructive. “But I think it was a positive conversation on that topic, and we obviously talked about the Middle East,” the US President said.
Middle East Crisis

President Trump said, “Putin hinted at playing a constructive role in the escalating crisis. He wants to be helpful.” However, the US President also said that ending the Russia-Ukraine war would be a more meaningful contribution from Moscow. He said, “I said, ‘You could be more helpful by ending the Ukraine-Russia war; that would be more helpful.’ We had a very good conversation, and he wants to be very constructive.”
Trump Putin Call

Trump did not disclose any specific proposals discussed during the conversation. During the conversation, the US President also highlighted the military campaign against Iran in a press conference, claiming that thousands of targets had been attacked and large parts of Tehran’s military capabilities had been destroyed. The call with Putin comes at a time of rising tensions worldwide and increased diplomatic activity among major powers as fighting in the Middle East intensifies.
