US Iran War: US President Donald Trump announced that the United States came within 60 minutes of launching a major new wave of military strikes against Iran. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump revealed that naval warships were armed and positioned for a scheduled offensive before he made a last-minute decision to temporarily suspend the operation.

According to the President, the U.S. military was ready to initiate a severe escalation in the ongoing Middle East conflict. “I was an hour away from making the decision to go today,” Trump told reporters. “We were all set to go. We were going to be striking. It would have been happening right now.”

Trump clarified that the order to hold fire came after he received direct requests from Gulf diplomats, including the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, who urged Washington to allow a narrow window for diplomatic talks. The White House noted that a new peace framework had been channelled through Pakistan, which has been serving as the primary mediator since the conflict erupted earlier this year.

In response to Trump’s looming deadline, Iranian military officials have maintained a resistive posture. Iranian Army Spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia dismissed the idea that Trump paused out of goodwill, instead attributing the delay to a fear of Iran’s defensive capabilities. “If the enemy acts foolishly, falls into the Israeli trap, and commits another aggression, we will open new fronts against them with new methods,” Akraminia stated via the ISNA news agency, adding that Iran has utilized the weeks-long ceasefire to significantly bolster its combat readiness.
