Confirming the operation, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that US forces, working alongside allied partners, carried out extensive strikes on multiple ISIS locations across Syria.

The US military said the strikes carried out on Saturday were aimed at ISIS targets across Syria and were designed to deter further attacks on American and allied forces in the region. In a statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation was part of its ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism, prevent future threats, and safeguard US and partner forces operating in the area.

US Central Command said the strikes were carried out on Saturday as part of Operation Hawkeye Strike, a campaign launched by US forces on December 19. Announced last month, Operation Hawkeye Strike was described as an ongoing military campaign rather than a one-time retaliatory action. CENTCOM said the latest strikes were a direct response to the Palmyra attack.

According to officials, the operation was conducted on the orders of President Donald Trump following a December 13 attack on US and Syrian forces in Palmyra, Syria, which killed three people, including two American soldiers. The US military has attributed the attack to ISIS.

The command said US and allied forces are determined to eliminate ISIS terrorists, who remain a threat. “Our message is strong: If you harm our troops, we will hunt you down and kill you, wherever you are in the world, no matter how hard you try to evade justice,” the Centcom statement said.

However, Centcom did not provide information on the number of targets, specific locations, or weapons used. The military also did not release a damage estimate. Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wrote on the social media platform X after announcing the strikes, “We will never forget and never give up.”
