Trump Peace Council Invitation: Russian President Vladimir Putin has responded to US President Donald Trump’s invitation to join the proposed “Peace Council,” a new international body aimed at addressing global conflicts, including the Israeli-Palestinian issue, according to RT. While thanking Trump for the offer, Putin said Russia would need more time to study the proposal and consult its strategic partners before making a final decision.

During a meeting of the Russian Security Council on Wednesday, Putin expressed Russia’s readiness to contribute $1 billion to the council. He suggested the funds could come from Russian assets frozen by the previous US administration. “We could provide one billion dollars right now, even before deciding whether we will take part in the work of the Peace Board,” Putin said, as quoted by RT.

Putin highlighted Russia’s “special relations with the people of Palestine” and reiterated Moscow’s long-standing support for initiatives aimed at strengthening international stability. He noted that the proposed funding could help address humanitarian needs and reconstruction efforts, particularly in Gaza.

The proposed Peace Council, also referred to as the Gaza Board of Peace, is focused on promoting peace in the Middle East, overseeing Gaza’s post-conflict reconstruction, and addressing humanitarian challenges faced by Palestinians.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump confirmed that Vladimir Putin was among several world leaders invited to join the Gaza Board of Peace. Speaking to reporters during a media interaction, Trump said the board would work toward peace and stability in Gaza as part of a broader international effort.

The formation of the Gaza Board of Peace is part of Phase 2 of Trump’s proposed 20-Point Peace Plan aimed at ending the Middle East conflict. Initially proposed last September, the initiative has since evolved to include mediation of global conflicts beyond Gaza.

According to a White House statement, the executive board would oversee key areas critical to Gaza’s long-term stability, including governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction, investment attraction, funding coordination, and capital mobilisation. Countries committing $1 billion would receive permanent seats on the board, while others could participate on a renewable three-year term.
