Philippines Massive Fire Incident: A massive fire has wreaked havoc in Bongao, Philippines. Flames engulfed an entire settlement on the small island, quickly spreading and becoming uncontrollable. Approximately 1,000 homes were destroyed, leaving 5,000 people homeless and forced to live in the open. The houses were made of wood and coconut leaves, which allowed the fire to spread rapidly, further fuelled by strong winds.

The situation became so chaotic that it was difficult for firefighters to reach the area and control the blaze. The massive fire raged for about four hours on the small island. Reaching the houses built on stilts over the water proved challenging for the fire department. Strong winds caused the fire to spread rapidly, reducing 1,000 homes to ashes. It is reported that the fire originated in Barangay Lamion, and the situation quickly spiralled out of control.

Controlling the fire proved difficult. People were evacuated by land and sea and taken to two temporary relief camps. Healthcare workers were also deployed to provide medical assistance. The cause of the massive fire is still unknown, but since almost all the houses on the island were made of wood and built close together over the water, the flames spread rapidly through the densely populated area, sending thick black smoke into the sky.
