Jeffrey Epstein Files: The dark secrets of world leaders, capitalists, and bureaucrats are being exposed, and at the centre of it all is the name “Jeffrey Epstein,” whose death in prison has unleashed a spectre that is haunting people in top positions around the world. This spectre is none other than the files he compiled, filled with details of his illicit activities. These files were released by the US Justice Department.

US Justice Department released approximately 3 million pages of documents on January 30. These documents have sent shock-waves across the globe, and in the initial fallout, more than 15 high-ranking officials in 10 countries have been forced to resign. Meanwhile, investigations are underway against more than 80 powerful individuals.

These files include names of politicians, ambassadors, billionaires, and members of royal families. Emails, flight logs, and contact records mention 700 to 1,000 influential people, many of whom have now begun to resign one after another.

Epstein revelations have caused the biggest uproar in Europe. A wave of resignations has begun in nearly 10 countries.

The most significant impact has been in Britain, where three officials have had to step down. Former ambassador Peter Mandelson, advisor Adam Perry, and Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, resigned. In Slovakia, former Foreign Minister and National Security Advisor Miroslav Lajčák resigned after more than 300 emails and incriminating chats surfaced. Senior Swedish diplomat Joanna Rubinstein also stepped down. Norwegian Ambassador Mona Juul, US Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, and MIT Media Lab head Joichi Ito also resigned.

Epstein files have become a source of embarrassment for the governments of several countries. The names of leaders and billionaires from these governments are linked to these files. As a result, British Prime Minister Starmer had to apologise, while British police launched a “fresh review” against Prince Andrew based on the new files. In Norway, Ambassador Mona Juul was suspended, and a corruption investigation was launched against former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland. Senior diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen is also under investigation.

In France, Epstein files have also caused a stir. Former Culture Minister Jack Lang resigned from his position as president of the Arab World Institute. His name appeared 673 times in the files, mentioning emails and contacts with Epstein from 2012 to 2019. Lang resigned, calling the allegations baseless. Although Lang denied the allegations, a financial investigation has been launched against him in France. His daughter, Caroline Lang, who headed the film producers group, has also resigned.
