India and China have reiterated their commitment to resolving the boundary issue according to the political framework and guiding principles established in 2005, the Ministry of External Affairs announced at a press briefing on Friday.

The spokesperson stated that both nations are dedicated to finding a ‘just, reasonable, and mutually acceptable framework.’

When questioned by reporters about the omission of the six-point consensus between India and China in the MEA’s press statement, which China had mentioned, Jaiswal clarified that he could only comment on the press statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs and provide information based on that.

Jaiswal mentioned that although some questions were raised about the 2005 document, it is accessible to the public and available on the Ministry of External Affairs’ website.

He encouraged everyone to review this document and consider the details provided in the press statement. He also noted that the issues discussed during the Special Representative level talks are thoroughly covered in the press statement.

The 23rd session of the Special Representatives of India and China took place in Beijing on December 18, 2024. India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi participated in the meeting.

The discussion focused on maintaining peace and tranquillity along the border. Doval extended an invitation to Wang Yi to visit India for the next SR meeting.
