External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in significant talks with his counterparts from the US, South Korea, Japan, and Italy at the G7 Foreign Minister’s Meeting in Fiuggi, Italy. During the event, he also met with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani.

The EAM shared on X, ‘Had a cordial meeting with Italy’s DPM & FM @Antonio_Tajani today. We explored opportunities in technology, innovation, clean energy, fertilizers, railways, and investments. We also shared views on IMEC, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific. Our actions are guided by the newly announced Joint Strategic Action Plan. Looking forward to hosting him in India in 2025.’
Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, posted on X about his meeting with Jaishankar. He mentioned, ‘The U.S. and India are more powerful when collaborating. Today in Italy, Indian External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar and I discussed the significance of our ongoing close cooperation to enhance global security and prosperity.’

EAM Jaishankar outlined the key points of the meeting and conveyed optimism about the progressing India-US partnership. He also mentioned his discussion with South Korean Foreign Minister, Cho Tae-yul, on X, highlighting their increasing alignment on the Indo-Pacific, robust economic partnership, strong defense connections, and active technological cooperation.

The External Affairs Minister shared information about the meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya, stating that both countries ‘discussed enhancing their strategic partnership and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region’.
In related news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a meeting earlier this year during the G20 Summit in Brazil.
During the recently concluded ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held talks with his counterparts from Japan, South Korea, and the United States.
