China Scam Network Crackdown: China has taken strict action against a large cyber fraud and illegal gambling network linked to Myanmar, sentencing four perpetrators to death. This information was provided by a court in the southern city of Shenzhen on Monday, February 2, 2026. However, it was not specified when the executions took place. These convicts were accused of orchestrating the murders of six Chinese citizens and running a multi-billion dollar fraud network.

According to the court, the gang had established several industrial parks in the Kokang region of Myanmar, from where online fraud, illegal casinos, and other crimes were operated. Crimes such as kidnapping, forced labour, prostitution, and drug trafficking were also being carried out from these centres. The investigation revealed that the network had defrauded people of approximately 29 billion yuan, or about $4.2 billion. In addition, their actions resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.

In this case, several members of the gang, including the gang leader Bai Suocheng, had already been sentenced to death. However, Bai Suocheng died due to illness after the sentencing. The remaining four convicts have now been executed. These individuals had appealed against the court’s decision, but the Guangdong High Court rejected their appeals.
China Death Penalty: 11 Convicts executed earlier
A few days earlier, on January 29, 2026, China also executed 11 people in a major crackdown on cyber-crime gangs linked to Myanmar. All of them were found to be involved in online fraud, murder, kidnapping, and other illegal activities. Among them were criminals associated with the Ming family, who were responsible for the deaths of several Chinese citizens.
Scam Industry Flourishing in Myanmar’s Border areas

Cyber fraud hubs have rapidly proliferated in some border areas of Myanmar over the past few years. Foreign nationals were lured or trafficked to this location and forced to participate in online fraud schemes. Several victims reported being held captive after being tricked with false job offers.
Growing International Pressure

United Nations and several countries have expressed concern over these cyber-crimes. According to reports, this illegal network defrauds victims of more than $40 billion annually. China has increased cooperation with countries like Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos to combat these crimes. Thousands of people have been rescued and repatriated to China as a result of these efforts.
China’s Strong Message Against Cyber-crime
These executions are seen as a strong message from China that it will not tolerate cyber fraud and organised crime. The government states that such crimes pose a serious threat to society and that strict measures will continue to be taken against them.
