Afghanistan-Pakistan border conflict: Afghanistan claimed Thursday night that it was carrying out retaliatory strikes against Pakistan in response to recent Pakistani airstrikes. According to Afghan officials, 15 enemy posts have been captured so far during the operations in the border area.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) confirmed that 13 civilians, including women and children, were killed in airstrikes carried out by Pakistani forces in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces.

Local media quoted UNAMA as saying that 13 Afghan civilians were killed and seven injured in the recent airstrikes. The attacks took place on the night of February 21-22 in Nangarhar’s Behsud and Khogyani districts. A school and a mosque were targeted in Barmal, Paktika, while an airstrike struck a house in Orgun district.
