Aasim Munir on Kashmir: Where people were celebrating the festival of Bakrid all over the world on June 7 i.e. Saturday, Pakistan once again tried to use this religious occasion for political purposes. Reiterating its long-standing demand for Kashmir, Pakistan Army chief General Asim Munir visited the Line of Control (LoC) to met the troops posted there. He even expressed his intention to raise the Kashmir dispute again at the international stage.
According to a report by Pakistan's military media wing ISPR, he cited the recent border disputes and claimed that the Pakistani army has given a befitting reply to India. Munir told the soldiers that Pakistan's army has won the military operations, which shows that they are taking a tough stand against India at this juncture.
General Munirr, in his statement, once again presented Kashmir as the main issue. He said Pakistan will continue to support the just struggle of Kashmiri people and the issue should be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the local people. The statement is part of Pakistan's long-term foreign policy strategy, which tries to raise the Kashmir dispute at every important moment, whether political or religious.
Pakistan has previously tried to heighten tensions by politicizing the Kashmir issue during major festivals like Eid. Whenever Pakistan faces internal challenges, international pressure, or economic hardships, it seeks to shift global focus from its issues by stirring up the Kashmir conflict.
India's clear and strong stand
India has repeatedly clarified that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inalienable part of India. India has also reiterated that Pakistan has no right to interfere in the internal affairs of the country. This stand of India is now getting strong support at the international level and Pakistan's claims related to Kashmir are being ignored.
India adopted a tough stand
India took a tough stand after the killing of 26 tourists in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. On May 7, India carried out surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan, which led to several days of tension and military clashes along the border, which led to talks between military officers (DGMO) of the two sides on May 10 and agreed to reduce tensions.
