Israeli PM Netanyahu lauds Trump's constructive approach in US Talks
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday shared details of his conversation with US President Donald Trump during his visit to the US during a government meeting.
He said, "So far, we have accomplished significant milestones in the conflict. I recently came back from a momentous trip to Washington where I met with President Trump, high-ranking officials in his administration, and leaders of the Senate and Congress. During this visit, our discussions with the U.S. President led to several significant achievements that can secure Israel's safety for generations to come. I'm not overstating this. There are opportunities now that we never imagined, or at least seemed unattainable a few months ago – but they are now within reach."
He stated, "It was a very warm, detailed and purposeful meeting. It covered all the main issues that we faced. While we have many achievements behind us, there are also many challenges before us. President Trump applauded all of our achievements, especially breaking the Iranian axis".
Netanyahu mentioned that he informed the US president about the 'sacrifices of the fallen fighters and the resilience of our people.'
"We agreed that whatever goals we have set for the war must be met," he added. He listed them as follows: the elimination of Hamas, the return of all of our hostages, ensuring that Gaza never again threatens Israel, the repatriation of all residents in both the north and the south, and preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Netanyahu said in his remarks that "President Trump has introduced a novel and improved strategy for the state of Israel, a groundbreaking and positive approach that we are currently discussing. He is very committed to its implementation. This also presents numerous opportunities for us. The Israeli prime minister mentioned that he would disclose more details about the meeting in suitable forums and remarked that his visit to the US signifies a historic milestone for the state of Israel.".
In his closing speech, Netanyahu said "My directive for this evening is that no one should approach or cross the perimeter fence. This is a part of the agreement that we will enforce rigorously. We expect Hamas to honor all of its commitments, including this one. "
