Trump Imposes Sanctions on ICC
Published on

US President Donald Trump has taken a big decision by signing two executive orders. President Donald Trump has imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) and signed executive orders to address "anti-Christian bias". The first Executive Order imposes financial and visa sanctions on individuals and their family members assisting in the International Criminal Court investigation of ICC, U.S. citizens.

ICC Arrest Warrant

The important moves were issued last year to top Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. It is being seen as a response to the ICC's arrest warrant. The ICC warrant was condemned by President Joe Biden at the time. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant were charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity for Israel's military actions in Gaza after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. The International Criminal Court (ICC) also demanded the arrest of top Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar, who was later executed.

"Anti-Christian Bias"

This is not the first time US President Donald Trump has taken action against the ICC. During his first term, he imposed sanctions and visa restrictions on ICC officials after the Court investigated alleged war crimes by US and Afghan forces in Afghanistan, and crimes committed by the Taliban. U.S. President Donald Trump also signed a second executive order, which he called "anti-Christian bias." "I am signing an executive order to head a new task force to eliminate anti-Christian bias," President Donald Trump said in a statement.
