Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday met Japan's Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Akiko Iquina and discussed opportunities for Indians, especially the youth of Assam, in Japan.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on The Ex that Iquina conveyed Japan's intention to provide opportunities to the youth in their country. Today is the last day of Sarma's three-day visit to Japan to attend the second edition of business summit Advantage Assam. During his address at the summit on Thursday, Sarma said the state is poised to become India's next powerhouse.

He highlighted how the state's GSDP is set to touch USD 85 billion next year and a target has been set to achieve USD 143 billion GSDP by 2030. The Chief Minister also informed how a USD 12 billion infrastructure upgradation plan is underway in the state and USD 4 billion of private investment has been secured in 2024.

With a simple, effective and customized policy regime, investors can build their base in the shortest possible time with the assurance of the state to provide all infrastructure and other facilities to supplement their efforts. He warmly welcomed all the leaders to attend the Advantage Assam Summit next month.
