US President Trump supports H-1B visa for business growth
US President Donald Trump has backed the H-1B visa program, which allows employers in the US to employ non-immigrant workers for specialty occupations. President Donald Trump said the country needs "capable" and "great" individuals to come to the US and this can be achieved through the H-1B visa program.
H-1B Visa Will Expand Businesses
Addressing the media at the White House, President Donald Trump emphasized his belief in attracting skilled individuals to the country, citing the H-1B visa program as an important tool in facilitating this. The US President said that we have to bring in quality people so that we will expand businesses. We should allow able-bodied people, great people, into our country and we can do that with H-1B visas," he said.
US President Donald Trump's Argument
US President Donald Trump argues that such individuals fill important positions and promote business expansion, benefiting the wider workforce. During Donald Trump's first term, the administration had imposed restrictions on H-1B visas, citing concerns of "abuse" and "economic stress". In 2016, Trump denounced the program, describing it as a means for companies to replace American workers with low-wage foreign workers. Restrictions were further tightened in 2020 in response to the economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
