Israel Launches Strikes on Hezbollah in Lebanon Post Missile Attack
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported a series of airstrikes conducted by the Israel Air Force (IAF) on Monday night, targeting terrorist positions, rocket and missile launchers, and infrastructure linked to Hezbollah across Lebanon.
The operation followed an attack earlier that day when Hezbollah launched two missiles toward Mount Dov in Israel.
The IDF confirmed that the IAF fighter jets specifically targeted the launcher responsible for the missile strikes aimed at Mount Dov, which had originated from southern Lebanon's Ra'ez area.
The airstrikes occurred shortly after the missile fire, which caused no casualties, as the missiles fell in open areas.
The IDF emphasized that the missile fire from Hezbollah was a violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, which has been in place to prevent hostilities between the two nations.
A statement from the IDF declared, "Tonight's firing towards the State of Israel constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon."
In response to the attack, Israel called on Lebanese authorities to uphold the ceasefire and take action to prevent Hezbollah from carrying out further hostilities from Lebanese territory.
The IDF reiterated Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire, but insisted that it will not tolerate any violations.
The missile attack from Hezbollah marked the first such incident since the ceasefire agreement took effect.
Despite the damage caused by the ongoing tensions, no casualties have been reported from either side.
The situation continues to be closely monitored as both Israel and Lebanon navigate the fragile peace in the region.
