Pakistan: Man Claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack, shared video of soldiers' deaths
Today's terrorist attack in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) region has once again highlighted the ongoing threat posed by terrorist organizations in the area.
At least 17 Pakistani soldiers were killed in a shooting following a suicide bombing in the Janikel area of Bannu district on Wednesday. The attackers not only slit the throats of the victims but also filmed the act and shared the video on social media to spread fear.
According to Pakistani media reports, the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group (HGB), a faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The brutal murder has been made viral by the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group. Hafiz Gul Bahadur, born in 1961 in North Waziristan, is the leader of the Pakistani Taliban. Following the formation of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan in December 2007, he assumed leadership of the militant group under Baitullah Mehsud.

Hafiz Gul Bahadur attended a Deobandi madrasa in Multan, Pakistan. He has been actively involved with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl. According to U.S. media, Bahadur operates on the ground for the Haqqani network in North Waziristan.
Hafiz Gul Bahadur came into the limelight when in March 2024, the Pakistani army carried out an airstrike in Afghanistan after the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan killed 7 soldiers, including two army officers, in an attack. Pakistan claimed that seven terrorists, including the commander associated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, were killed in the attack.
