Woman Murdered By Her in-Laws in Pakistan's Punjab

Father of a seven-month pregnant woman, who was murdered by her in-laws in Kotli Marlan village of Daska in Pakistan's Punjab said that her body was cut into 25 pieces.

Shabir Ahmed, father of the victim Zehra Qadeer, said that the four suspects have confessed to killing his daughter. They are in police custody.

The father, himself a police inspector, told the media: "My daughter was pressed with a pillow and her body was cut into 25 pieces with a sharp-edged knife and meat cleaver. Inspector Shabir Ahmed said the body parts were packed in separate bags and thrown into sewerage drains.

Daska Police have Registered a Case of Murder

Zahra Qadir, who was seven months pregnant, was murdered by her mother-in-law and sister-in-law. A police officer told the media that mother-in-law Sughra Bibi along with her daughter Yasmin killed Zahra (26), chopped the body into pieces, stuffed it in a bag and threw it in a canal. Media reported that the victim's mother-in-law chopped off her hands and legs to hide her identity and also severed her head from the torso and spread rumours that Zahra had eloped with someone. Zahra, a resident of Kot Mand village in Gurjanwala, was married to Kadir of Kotli Marlan in 2020. Police have not yet been able to contact Kadir, who works abroad. According to the media, the Daska police have registered a case of murder and other charges.

Sughra Bibi, Yasmin and grandson Abdullah have been arrested and are in the custody of the Daska police, the media reported.

Man throws Acid on Wife Over Domestic Dispute

According to media reports, the tragic incident comes after another crime in which a man threw acid on his wife over domestic dispute, leaving her severely burnt in Sadiqabad here. Saira, 35, suffered 80 per cent burns in the attack. According to regional police, when the victim demanded money for household expenses, her husband lost his temper and threw acid on her. After initial treatment at a local hospital, the victim was shifted to the burns unit where her condition is stated to be critical. The victim and her father alleged that her husband's father and mother and her brother-in-law's wife threw acid and petrol on her and set her on fire. The woman's father complained that his daughter was struggling for life, with the police avoiding registering a case against those involved in the incident.
