Donald Trump Appoints Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, Marco Rubio as Secretary of State
Following his victory over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 US presidential election, President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday named Congressman Matt Getz as the Attorney General of the United States.
Key Appointments for Trump's 2024 Administration
Trump announced other key appointments for his 2024 administration, including appointing Florida Senator Marco Rubio to the position of Secretary of State and former Congressman Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard to the position of Director of National Intelligence (DNI).

"I am very proud to announce that Congressman Matt Getz of Florida has been named Attorney General of the United States. Matt is a highly talented and determined attorney trained from the College of William & Mary of Law who has distinguished himself in Congress through his focus on achieving desperately needed reform of the Department of Justice," Trump said in a statement.

"Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan weaponization of our justice system. Matt will end the armed government, protect our borders, dismantle criminal organizations, and restore Americans' terribly broken trust and confidence in the Department of Justice. Regarding Rubio's nomination as Secretary of State, Trump highlighted his leadership qualities, saying, "I am very proud to announce that Senator Marco Rubio of Florida has been nominated as Secretary of State of the United States of America. "Marco is a highly respected leader and a very powerful voice for freedom. He will be a strong advocate for our nation, a true friend to our allies and a fearless warrior who will never back down before our opponents."
