BRICS: The International School has inaugurated the International Centre of Competence for the Development of BRICS Education Systems, a project endorsed by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI). As reported by TV BRICS, the centre aims to be part of a global effort to establish a network of BRICS educational centres. The Centre's primary goal is to develop and implement an international system of educational tourism in BRICS countries, encompassing career guidance, educational initiatives, youth policy, and training programmes in economics, science, education, and public administration. Educational tourism is viewed as a means of exerting soft power influence.

International Competency Centre

During the inauguration of the Center, a roundtable discussion on the Center for Competence's strategy took place, involving representatives from educational institutions like MGIMO University and officials from the State Duma and the Moscow City Government, who discussed the future of BRICS educational cooperation. In a special commentary to TV BRICS, Olga Zakharova, director of the Urban Economy Division at ASI, mentioned that the first partners in the International Competence Center projects will be the agency's partner universities, which will have the chance to enhance their international relations. 'Russia has much to be proud of and showcase,' she stated. 'We have numerous successful projects that include both educators and educational institutions. I hope this methodology and experience will be adopted in BRICS countries.'

Emphasis on the role of education and youth policy

Nguyen Abilova, Director of BRICS + International School, highlighted the importance of education and youth policy in maintaining the competitiveness of BRICS nations. She stated, 'To advance further, we must unify our national educational systems to engage with the youth, take innovative steps to enhance the educational process, and train professionals at a higher level.' The BRICS International Competence Centre project was initiated following a call from Russian President Vladimir Putin to create such entities within BRICS and to promote Russian educational and cultural programs worldwide.
