US Removes India Map Post: Last week, when a major trade deal was announced between India and the United States, the USTR office posted a map along with information about the trade agreement on the exchange. This map showed Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin as part of India. This post generated considerable discussion. However, the US has now mysteriously deleted the post. This raises questions about whether this represents a major strategic signal from the US or simply a technical error.

This map was different from previous US maps; PoK was previously marked separately, reflecting Pakistan’s claim. However, the now-removed map shows these disputed areas within India’s borders without any separation. This has led to discussions about whether this was a mistake or a sign of a new era in India-US relations.

In fact, USTR shared this post on X when announcing the interim trade agreement between India and the US. Under this agreement, the 50% tariff imposed on Indian goods has been reduced to 18%, the lowest among Asian countries. This decision appears to open the way for cooperation between the two countries.

After this post went viral, people began speculating whether it was a mistake or part of a deliberate move in India-US relations. Pakistan and China also reacted to it, as it contradicted their claims. Ultimately, USTR removed the entire post from its official Twitter (X) account. There has been no official statement from the US side regarding its removal.

India has repeatedly clarified that the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. The Ministry of External Affairs has always objected to incorrect maps, especially when the US State Department and other international agencies make mistakes in India’s maps.
