US Israel Against Iran: The United States and Israel on Saturday launched a coordinated missile assault on Iran, setting off powerful explosions across Tehran and several other major cities in a sharp escalation of tensions that could draw the Middle East into a broader regional conflict. The joint offensive, reportedly codenamed Operation Lion’s Roar, targeted high-value government and military installations in what officials described as a precision strike campaign.

Among the reported targets were key state institutions, strategic military facilities, and locations associated with Iran’s top leadership, including the office of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and premises linked to the Iranian presidency. Loud blasts were heard in multiple districts of Tehran, with plumes of smoke rising over parts of the capital, according to initial reports.

US Israel Against Iran: US confirms strikes on Iran; Trump vows to block Nuclear Ambitions

US President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes, declaring that Iran “can never possess a nuclear weapon.” He emphasized, “Our mission is to protect the American people by neutralizing imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime.”

President Trump accused Iran of attempting to revive its nuclear program and vowed that he “will prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.” He further stated that US forces are tasked with destroying Iran’s missile stockpiles, dismantling its missile production infrastructure, and neutralizing its naval capabilities.

Israel Attacks Iran

Shortly after the assault, Iran responded with retaliatory missile launches, according to Israeli officials, who said the country’s air defence systems were fully activated and working to intercept the incoming projectiles.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, was moved to a secure location following the strikes. The escalation occurred even as diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington, D.C. had been underway over a potential nuclear agreement, adding further uncertainty to already fragile negotiations.

The strikes mark one of the most direct and significant confrontations involving United States and Israel against Iran in recent years. Security analysts warn that the operation could trigger retaliatory measures from Tehran and potentially widen the conflict beyond Iran’s borders, drawing in regional actors and allied militias.

The strike comes just months after Israel and Iran were involved in a 12-day aerial clash in June, representing one of the most direct confrontations between the long-standing adversaries. The latest escalation follows repeated warnings from both Israel and the United States that military action could be resumed if Iran continued advancing its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

In February, Washington and Tehran had resumed diplomatic talks aimed at resolving the decades-long dispute and preventing a wider regional conflict. Israel, however, has insisted that any agreement must include the complete dismantling of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, rather than simply limiting uranium enrichment, and has pushed for Tehran’s missile capabilities to be restricted under any deal.

Iran, on its part, has expressed willingness to discuss limits on its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief but has refused to negotiate over its missile program. The country has also issued warnings to neighboring states hosting US forces, cautioning that these bases could become targets if used for attacks against Iran.
