Thailand Train Accident: A major train accident occurred in Thailand on Wednesday morning. A crane fell from a height of 65 feet on a moving passenger train. Due to this, the train derailed, killing 22 passengers and injuring more than 40. The crane was being used for the construction of a railway bridge. There were 195 people on board the train at the time of the accident. According to officials, most of these passengers were school students. Many passengers were trapped in the coaches and are being rescued with the help of cutting and spreading equipment.

The accident occurred on Wednesday morning in Sikhio district, about 230 kilometers northeast of the capital, Bangkok. The passenger train was traveling to Ubon Ratchathani province. According to reports, a crane working on a high-speed rail project suddenly lost control and fell onto a passing train. The impact was so severe that several train carriages derailed. The wreckage of the train also caught fire, further worsening the situation.

22 people confirmed dead

Thai police have officially confirmed 22 deaths in the horrific accident. Another 79 passengers were injured, eight of whom are in critical condition. The train was carrying 195 passengers, many of whom were trapped in the debris and fire.

Upon receiving information about the accident, teams from the local administration and fire department arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. The fire in the coaches was extinguished after extensive efforts, and the trapped passengers were rescued. Additional machinery and crane teams were deployed to remove the heavy debris.

The Thai government shared information about the accident on the social media platform X. The government stated that the accident occurred at around 9:05 a.m. when a safety violation was discovered during construction. The government has directed immediate assistance to the families and expedited relief efforts.
