Iran Drone Shot Down: Tensions between Iran and the United States have once again reached a critical point. A massive US Navy aircraft carrier is present in the Arabian Sea, while at the same time, pressure is being exerted for diplomatic talks. Amidst this, an Iranian drone was approaching the American aircraft carrier when a US F-35 fighter jet shot it down in mid-air. This incident involved the USS Abraham Lincoln, which was transiting through international waters approximately 500 miles off the southern coast of Iran.

Despite de-escalation measures taken by U.S. forces operating in international waters, an Iranian drone continued to fly toward the ship. An F-35C fighter jet launched from the aircraft carrier destroyed the drone to ensure the safety of the ship and its crew. No U.S. personnel were injured, and no U.S. equipment was damaged during the incident.

Hours after the drone incident, two Iranian gunboats operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) approached the U.S.-flagged chemical tanker M/V Stena Imperative in the Strait of Hormuz. On three occasions, the gunboats passed close to the ship at high speed, while an Iranian Mohajer drone flew overhead.

Meanwhile, the United States increased its military presence in the Middle East last week, deploying the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, along with three guided-missile destroyers and its carrier air wing, which includes F/A-18E Super Hornet, F-35C Lightning II, and EA-18G Growler aircraft. Three U.S. Navy destroyers – the USS McFaul, USS Delbert D. Black, and USS Carrier – have also been deployed.
