Delhi Air Pollution: A combined effect of polluted air and viral illness particularly associated with H3N2, are responsible for this mischief.

The skies of Delhi-NCR are doing much more than blurring the sight or skyline. They’re responsible for choking its residents and resulting in creation of a number of illnesses. According to the new survey by community platform, it is found that local areas that three households out four have one person unwell due to the toxic air and seasonal infections that collide more during the pollution state and hamper the public health crisis.

Survey collected from 15,000 responses from Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad shows the serious rise in the illness over the past month.

In Late September, 56% of the local households had reported one or more members to be sick, and now that figure has increased to 75%. Air Pollution Accounted for 1 in 7 Deaths in Delhi During 2023 and till now 15% of the deaths in Delhi are linked with air pollution.

According to the Doctors residing in the capital, the cases of H3N2 influenza and other viral infections are increasing at rapid pace, with inclusion of symptoms like persistent fever, and cough to soreness in throat and fatigue. Residents says that the recovery is taking more than 10 days. Young Children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing medical conditions are becoming the main targets of the viral infections. The report notes, that pollution is the main reason for thriving widespread of prolonged fever, body aches and respiratory distress.

After the Festive season, the air quality of Delhi NCR air pollution is turning to be deadly once again with AQI levels that have reached between 400 to 500, due to firecrackers smoke, farm fire from the neighbouring states, and local emissions. The levels of fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) have reached to 350 g/m, which is nearly ten times more than the prescribed data limit by the world health organisation.

Survey conducted by the Local Circles found that three out of four households are reporting the symptoms of congestion, breathing problems, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, burning eyes, and headaches which are mainly due to the prolonged exposure to the air pollution.

Delhi’s Residents conditions are under serious alert due to the double attack of the seasonal viral infections that have collided with the danger of high Air quality index, which is resulting the public to suffer from respiratory illness and patients are taking harder time to recover.
