The T20 World Cup 2026 will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka, commencing from February 7 till March 8. After the fifth T20I against South Africa, Samson was brought back to the team’s playing XI. In the game against the Kiwis, Samson’s playing in the World Cup is under scrutiny.

Against the Proteas, Samson scored 37 runs, while he managed to score just 46 runs in five games against the Kiwis. On one hand, Samson struggled to score runs, and on the other hand, Ishan Kishan, another wicketkeeper batter, impressed everyone with his incredible knocks. Kishan smashed an iconic knock in the fifth T20I of 103 runs off 43 balls.

Kishan received huge praise for his performance, and Samson failed to grab the opportunities. As per the latest performance, Kishan is now being considered as the first-choice wicketkeeper in the T20 World Cup 2026 playing XI.

Samson’s wife, Charulatha Remesh, posted a story that stated,

“When all is done & answers fade…just bow your head and let life be! Because some times have to be accepted, not explained.”

Initially Samson was considered the first choice as wicketkeeper batter and Kishan as a backup. But Kishan got a chance against New Zealand as Tilak Varma missed the series due to injury. Batting at No. 3, Kishan scored 8, 76, 28, and 103 in four matches.
