Public Holiday in Delhi for Shaheedi Diwas: The Rekha Gupta govt in Delhi has declared Tuesday a public holiday to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Sikh guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur on Tuesday, i.e., 25th Nov. The ninth Sikh guru’s unparalleled sacrifice in the defense of faith and honor is being remembered with reverence across the country.
November 25 was initially a partial holiday, but was later declared a full public holiday to allow people to participate in events and pay tribute to the legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the decision ahead of the three-day ‘Gurmat Samagam’ that began near the Red Fort on Sunday.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reviewed arrangements related to security, traffic regulation, lighting, crowd management, sanitation, drinking water, and emergency services. She directed officials to ensure all preparations are in place to ensure devotees face no inconvenience during the event. Ministers Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Kapil Mishra, along with several prominent figures, were present during the inspection.
She wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “May Guru Sahib’s enduring message of courage, compassion and freedom of faith continue to guide and inspire us in our collective journey ahead.” She is personally overseeing the preparations for the mega event and recently visited the venue at the Red Fort to inspect it.

Delhi Public Holiday Today: Public holiday declared on the occasion of Martyrdom Day
The Red Fort is historically associated with the supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur. A three-day event is being held here from November 23rd to 25th. The program includes a large museum showcasing rare historical artifacts related to the Guru, a special light-and-sound show on the ramparts, and satsang-kirtan sessions by seven sangat groups.The Chief Minister appealed to people in Delhi and beyond to participate in the event.

In Uttar Pradesh, the state government has also declared a public holiday today to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. All government offices, schools, and educational institutions across the state will remain closed in honor of the Guru’s legacy.
