Delhi Air Pollution: Delhi’s air is gradually sliding into winter as cold winds started the capital city to shiver. According to the Indian Mereological Department (IMD), temperature is likely to decrease in the coming days. The AQI in several parts of Delhi records to ‘very poor’ condition.

With mornings of Delhi gently diving towards winter season. While mornings are turning foggy and nights started shivering, but the winter season also comes with toxic air pollution due to stagnant wind, stubble burning, and vehicular pollution. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the temperature is expected to drop gradually in coming days. The weather is likely to stay calm, cool and mostly clear with little smog in the morning time. The levels of AQI in many areas of Delhi has crossed the mark of 400, which comes under the serious category.

The IMD has also predicted that the Cyclonic Storm named Ditwah is moving on fast pace towards the coasts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh. Red Alert has been issued for four districts of Tamil Nadu. State Government has also issued an orange alert for five district to be on alert and be prepared for the storm.

Delhi Air Pollution: Air Quality Index

The air quality in national capital and nearby areas National capital Region (NCR) is ‘very poor’ category. Most of the areas in capital city is recorded close to 400 mark. As per Central Pollution Control Board

Earlier on Friday, a total of 19 out of 39 monitoring stations in Delhi recorded air quality in severe category in the morning, after which the situation improved slightly during the day. Delhi’s daily average AQI readings consistently showed poor levels throughout the week. These included 377 on Thursday, 327 on Wednesday, 352 on Tuesday, and 382 on Monday, all in the very hazardous range.

The India Meteorological Department has predicted fog on Saturday. Maximum temperature is expected to be around 26 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperature is likely to be around 11 degrees Celsius.
