SwaRail superapp unifies Indian Railways Services
The Ministry of Railways has been working on a new superapp named SwaRail that would encompass different railway services in one go. SwaRail was launched recently on Friday and is expected to make traveling easier by unifying all services under one roof. SwaRail, which comes out in beta on Android and iOS, hopes to save users much app clutter and contribute to a reduction in smartphone space usage.
A single platform for railway services
The SwaRail superapp, developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), integrates all public-facing services of Indian Railways under one roof. A passenger can book reserved and unreserved tickets; buy platform tickets; track trains and PNR status; order food onboard; and check deliveries of parcels and freight. Apart from this, the app allows access to 'Rail Madad,' a complaint and query support system.
Increased ease of access and convenience
Thus far, Indian Railways have not made the use of apps to book tickets and inquire about schedules as well as other services easier for the user. SwaRail makes things simple by unifying everything, which will help a user handle all his or her railway needs under one app. For example, PNR enquiry will display ticket status as well as the train status.
No login issues
SwaRail offers the functionality of single sign-on where multiple railway services are accessed through one set of credentials. This way, all users with already downloaded apps, like IRCTC RailConnect and UTS Mobile App from Indian Railways, will easily transition to using SwaRail. In addition, the app accepts multiple methods of login-both m-PIN and biometric-for ease of access while being highly secure.
SwaRail is currently available in beta, and the app invites users to test its features and provide feedback for further improvements. The Ministry of Railways will assess the performance of the app and make necessary refinements before its official public release. With its streamlined approach, SwaRail aims to revolutionize the way passengers interact with Indian Railways, making travel planning more efficient and user-friendly.
