WhatsApp will stop working on older iPhones from May 5, 2025

Popular messaging app WhatsApp has officially announced that it will end support for iOS 15.1 and older versions from 5 May 2025. WhatsApp will not work on iPhones that are using iOS 15.1 or older. This list includes the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus. Also, these changes will apply not only to the WhatsApp app but also to the WhatsApp Business app, as both these apps work on the same code and system.

Important information for older iOS versions

If you're using an iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and your device has a version older than iOS 15.1, you'll need to either update your device or buy a new iPhone to continue using WhatsApp.

This change will affect users who have iOS 12.5.7 or earlier, which was the last update for these device models. WhatsApp has cited the need for modern features and security updates as the reason behind this decision, which are not supported in older operating systems.
