Samsung to Discontinue DeX App for Windows with One UI 7 Update
Samsung To Discontinue Older One UI 7 Versions
Samsung's earlier One UI 7 version is poised for several visual and functional enhancements. Although Samsung hasn't provided specific details about the Android 15 framework, significant information has surfaced online, highlighting design changes and new app icons.
In this latest edition, Samsung introduces numerous new features while simultaneously attempting to alter the phone's usage. According to its UK website, Samsung is discontinuing apps that link Galaxy devices to Windows PCs for a desktop-like experience.
In the page's footnote, the company mentioned that the DeX app on Windows will no longer be compatible with One UI 7 version. Consequently, Windows users will lose access to the application, although DeX will remain available on the laptop.
Additionally, if you have a Samsung tablet, you can still utilize this desk mode. Launched in 2017, Samsung DeX enables users to connect their phones in both wired and wireless modes, providing a desktop-like experience on your PC or TV.
Samsung is urging its users to transition from the DeX app to the Link to Windows feature. Although Microsoft's solution might not be as user-friendly as DeX, it is not restricted to phones from the South Korean company. Instead, it is compatible with all modern Android devices and performs significantly better than Samsung's app.
For those curious, this isn't the only thing concluding. Additionally, Samsung announced that beginning with One UI 7, the Edge panel will no longer be available for download from the Galaxy Store.
