OpenAI Introduces A New Feature Memory For ChatGPTs

OpenAI Launches New Feature

Since its launch in November 2022, OpenAI's text-generating artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT has taken the world by storm. With the help of ChatGPT, users can find AI-generated answers to their questions, requests, and commands. Earlier this year, OpenAI also announced a new feature called 'Memory' for ChatGPT, which can recall information discussed in previous conversations.

What Is The Specialty Of The New Feature?

Now, the company has introduced a new way to view or manage all previous chat conversations for good with the introduction of a search function for the web app. OpenAI announced via a new post on X, "We're launching the ability to find your chat history on the ChatGPT web. Now you can quickly and easily fetch the chat for context, or pick up where you left off. History Search for ChatGPT is a separate feature from Memory, which lets users remember an old chat or resume the chat from where it left off, especially in case their query isn't resolved. With this feature, users will be less likely to repeat information and are also expected to find clear links.

More Features Are Set To Be Launched Soon

In addition, OpenAI has confirmed that although in stages this new magnifying glass icon is currently available to all users. ChatGPT Plus and Teams subscribers will be able to access it until the end of October 2024. In contrast, Enterprise and Edu subscribers will receive it as early as next month. Thankfully, by the end of November 2024, free users will also have access to the chat history feature.
