Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann flagged off 25,000 rugby balls from Jalandhar to be sent to London for the Rugby World Cup. Mann stressed on the fight against drugs through sports and vowed to make Jalandhar a sports hub.
The Punjab Chief Minister flagged off a truck carrying balls for the Rugby World Cup and stressed on the importance of sports in the fight against drugs. Highlighting the sports personalities and sports equipment manufacturing industries in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said his government will "wash away the stigma of drugs" from the state through sports. Today, a consignment of 25,000 rugby balls has been sent from Jalandhar to London.
Rugby balls manufactured in Jalandhar have been employed in the Rugby World Cup, whereas cricket bats and balls from the same location have been used in the Cricket World Cup. During the election campaign, Arvind Kejriwal had said that Jalandhar should be made a hub of sports.
He said, "Earlier, sports equipment was manufactured in Jalandhar on a large scale. But due to drug addiction and the policies of previous governments, this industry has become weak. The AAP administration is striving to rejuvenate the industry."
The CM stated, "We have dispatched a truck loaded with 25,000 rugby balls for the Rugby World Cup in England. This is a significant moment of pride for Punjab and Jalandhar. Our current focus is to restore all industries and support the growth of existing ones."
CM Bhagwant Mann said that his government has a policy of zero tolerance towards drug trafficking and corruption. He said, "Action against corruption will continue in Punjab. We will not spare anyone, even if they are politically powerful. We have a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and corruption. Through this, no one will be illegally or vindictively targeted. But if evidence is found against anyone, he will not be spared. "
