Amritsar Explosion: Man injured while handling bomb
Amritsar: A man was seriously injured after an explosive exploded in his hand in Nowshera village of Amritsar, police said on Sunday. The police reached the spot and admitted him to the hospital. Forensic teams have been called in to investigate the incident. Police suspect that he was one of the anti-national elements who had come to collect the consignment.
A powerful blast occurred near Nowshera village within the jurisdiction of the Kambo police station in Amritsar's rural district. Maninder Singh, the Senior Superintendent of Police for Amritsar Rural, verified that the police were informed about the explosion in the morning. Officers quickly arrived at the scene, discovering a severely injured individual who was then transported to the hospital.
It is reported that the explosion occurred while the individual was handling it, resulting in severe injuries to his hands and feet. Authorities were informed of the incident in the morning, and police have arrived at the scene. One person has been hospitalized with critical injuries.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Maninder Singh stated that typically, individuals with anti-national intentions retrieve their shipments in isolated locations. We believe he is among the culprits who arrived to pick up the consignment and suffered injuries due to improper handling of the explosives," he remarked.
Teams from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have been summoned to evaluate the site. FSL is performing immediate analyses at the scene, while the police are simultaneously carrying out their investigation.
