Jodhpur's Weather Shift: Heat eases, roads blocked
In Jodhpur, stormy rains brought relief from the heat but traffic was disrupted due to falling trees and breaking of electric poles. The administration immediately started the process of removing trees from the roads. The Meteorological Department has also predicted rain in the coming days.
Following the intense heat in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, the weather has abruptly shifted. On Saturday, the city experienced a spell of heavy rain accompanied by a dust storm. While the general public found relief from the extreme heat, they also faced significant losses. The adverse weather conditions have brought people's activities to a halt. The Jodhpur Meteorological Centre has forecasted cloudy skies and rain for today as well. In both the city and rural areas of Jodhpur, large trees were uprooted by the strong storm, and electric poles were knocked down. The rain has caused flooding in several locations.
The metal roofs of numerous homes and businesses were torn off and carried away by the wind. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. However, some individuals are reported to have sustained injuries. The authorities have promptly initiated efforts to clear fallen trees and poles from the roads.
No Casualties Reported
People living in the Mata Ka Than and Bhadwasiya Road areas of Jodhpur reported that the unexpected and brief downpour, lasting just 10 minutes, took everyone by surprise. Meanwhile, tin roofs were ripped off in various places, flying into the air and falling onto the streets. Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries from the storm and heavy rainfall. A juice shop in Puri was completely destroyed, with more than a dozen patrons present at the time.
Electricity outage caused by a fallen utility pole
In Jodhpur, areas including Banad, Ramsar Chauraha, Saran Nagar, and Angwa faced power cuts due to knocked-down electric poles. Fallen trees blocked several roads, and the roofs of numerous temporary houses were ripped off.
