Terrorist-linked houses raided in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch
In Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, the SIA raided the houses linked to the terrorists. During the investigation, incriminating material was seized and suspects were detained. The raids are part of a commitment to protect national security and maintain public order.
In this situation, the involvement of educators, guardians, and friends is essential. Although constant surveillance may not be feasible, they must stay alert to the online actions of young people and offer prompt advice if any concerning conduct is noticed. On Friday, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) carried out searches at multiple locations in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) reported that a residence supposedly connected to the terrorists is under search. Additional information regarding the investigation is anticipated.
On May 17, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted widespread searches at approximately 11 locations in central and north Kashmir. A week prior, analogous raids were executed in south Kashmir as part of the ongoing probe into the sleeper cell network. These cells were discovered to be distributing confidential and strategic information regarding Indian security forces and crucial sites through encrypted messaging services such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.
The statement indicated that the searches were carried out to examine cases filed under different sections. These searches have been sanctioned by the competent court and will be carried out with an Executive Magistrate present. Officials reported that a significant amount of incriminating evidence was confiscated during the raids, and the suspects were held for additional interrogation.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that these terror associates are actively involved in the terror plot, propagating and disseminating anti-India narratives, aimed not only at challenging the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India but also at inciting disaffection, public disorder and communal hatred, as mentioned in the release.
The State Investigation Agency in Kashmir affirmed its unwavering dedication to safeguarding national security and upholding public order. It will persist in taking decisive measures against individuals or groups engaged in separatist and terrorist activities.
The statement also mentioned that the majority of people being investigated by the SIA for their role in online radicalization are aged between 18 and 22, a group considered both vulnerable and influential. In this situation, the involvement of teachers, parents, and peers is vital. Although constant monitoring might not be feasible, they should be attentive to the online actions of young individuals and offer timely advice if any concerning behavior is noticed.
