Telangana News: A tragic incident occurred in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, where a significant fire erupted in a residential building close to Gulzar House in the Charminar area on Sunday morning. This accident resulted in the death of 17 individuals from burns, with several others sustaining injuries.
Media reports indicate that the incident occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday. Upon receiving the fire report, police and fire department teams promptly arrived at the scene to commence relief and rescue efforts. Eleven fire engines were dispatched to extinguish the blaze, and ten ambulances were sent to transport the injured to hospitals.
Fire suspected due to short circuit
The police have stated that the exact cause of the fire has not been determined yet, but preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit in the air conditioning system may be responsible. It is reported that because of the intense heat, all the air conditioners in the building were operating non-stop, causing the wiring to overheat and ignite. Consequently, the spark from the fire spread throughout the building.
Fire Extinguished, but 17 dead
The firefighting crew successfully extinguished the blaze after hours of hard work. Unfortunately, eight individuals caught in the fire could not be rescued. The injured have been transported to the hospital for medical care, and many are reported to be in critical condition.
According to fire brigade officials, 14 individuals, among them three children, have been successfully rescued. All those rescued have sustained burns and are currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals. Reports indicate that approximately 30 individuals were residing in the building, primarily as tenants. Local residents mentioned that the fire spread rapidly, leaving many without the opportunity to evacuate. The police are currently probing to determine the precise cause of the fire.
