Summary

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mandated the use of eco-friendly cow dung paint for government buildings in Uttar Pradesh, aiming to boost sustainability and self-sufficiency in cattle protection centers. This initiative also seeks to enhance milk production, women's empowerment, and self-employment opportunities, while promoting indigenous energy resources through CBG and cow urine processing plants.

During a review meeting of the Animal Husbandry Department on Sunday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a significant decision. He announced that government buildings should now be painted with natural paint made from cow dung, and the number of these paint plants should be increased. Additionally, he stressed the importance of making cattle protection centers self-sufficient. The Chief Minister highlighted that this sector extends beyond milk production and holds substantial potential for nutrition security, women's empowerment, and self-employment.

Cow protection centers will be made self-sufficient

The Chief Minister instructed that Gaushalas with commendable performance should be recognized, and a competition for indigenous cow breeds should be held at the mandal level. Additionally, contests should be arranged among organizations producing cow products. It is essential to appoint caretakers at each cow shelter and ensure timely salary payments, establishment of straw banks, and adequate provision of water and fodder. Furthermore, under the 'Chief Minister Destitute Govansh Bhagidari Yojana', cows will be provided to impoverished families lacking livestock.

Chief Minister Yogi has instructed to expand the number of primary cooperative societies and offer training to their members to boost milk production. In the year 2024-25, 4922 new milk committees will be established. Currently, the state is gathering 3.97 lakh liters of milk daily, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous year. The milk unions' turnover has hit Rs 1120.44 crore.

Authorities announced that 1.149 million cows are housed in 7,693 shelters across the state, with surveillance via CCTV and periodic inspections. In Varanasi and Muzaffarnagar, CBG (Compressed Biogas) Plants and Cow Urine Processing Plants are being established to enhance local energy sources.
