The violent protests against the Waqf Amendment Bill in West Bengal show no signs of stopping. Following the unrest in Murshidabad, another district in the state has witnessed violence related to the Waqf law. ISF activists confronted police in 24 Parganas, damaging vehicles and setting them on fire. In the Bhangar area of the district, supporters of the Indian Secular Front clashed with police, resulting in multiple injuries and the burning of police vehicles.
The confrontation started when police prevented ISF supporters from heading to Kolkata's Ramlila Maidan, where party leader and Bhangar MLA Naushad Siddiqui was speaking at a rally against the Waqf amendment.
Police sources reported that rally participants were halted near Bhojerhat on Basti highway. Numerous ISF workers had assembled from Bhangar and nearby regions such as Minakhan and Sandeshkhali. The situation intensified when the crowd attempted to breach police barricades, resulting in confrontations between both parties.
