Delhi Elections: Lt Governor Stresses on Voting, Addresses Waste Management
On Wednesday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena voted at a polling station on Raj Niwas Marg. He expressed his hope that Delhi residents would achieve a record turnout.
"I have appealed to the people of Delhi to vote in large numbers. I want the people of Delhi to set a record in voting," Saxena told the media after casting his vote at a polling booth at St Xavier's School.
Emphasizing the importance of this election in shaping the city's future, he highlighted significant issues such as pollution, waste management, and the cleanup of the Yamuna river.
"I am confident that the people of Delhi will vote in large numbers and will choose their government. It is also important because it determines what you want in your city. Many things in Delhi are on people's radar. Pollution is a big issue, mountains of garbage are a big issue, cleaning of Yamuna is a big issue. There are many issues that I think the public will have to keep in mind. I am sure people are voting keeping all these issues in mind," he said.
Sangeeta Saxena, the wife of Saxena, also voted, highlighting the importance of comprehensive development in Delhi. She urged citizens to participate in large numbers, emphasized that voting is a responsibility, not a holiday, and said, 'I voted with Delhi's development in mind.'
"Delhi needs all-round development. Whatever issue you take, Delhi needs a lot of development in it, water, air, safety, pollution, traffic, everything and I just want to appeal to the citizens of Delhi to please come out of your homes and vote," she said.
