Arif Mohammad Khan to Take Oath as Bihar's 42nd Governor today
Arif Mohammad Khan, who was recently appointed as the new Governor of Bihar, is scheduled to take his oath at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday. Prior to taking office, Khan honored former president Rajendra Prasad with floral tributes in Patna.
Arif Mohammad said, "I will be taking the oath of office today. These are the individuals whose blessings are essential. Arif Khan will take over from Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who has been named the Governor of Kerala."
Arif Mohammad Khan is set to become the 42nd Governor of Bihar, having previously served as the Governor of Kerala. He will be sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
In December, an official statement issued by the President's Secretariat had said, "The resignation of Raghubar Das from the position of Governor of Odisha has been accepted by the President of India."
The announcement also mentioned that the President of India is pleased to appoint the following Governors. Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, who is presently serving as the Governor of Mizoram, has been appointed as the Governor of Odisha.
General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh has been named the Governor of Mizoram, while Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has been appointed as the Governor of Kerala.
Arif Mohammed Khan, the current Governor of Kerala, has been named the Governor of Bihar. Ajay Kumar Bhalla has been assigned the role of Governor of Manipur. On December 31, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid a visit to Raj Bhavan to meet the departing governors Rajendra Prasad and Arif Mohammad, describing the visit as a courtesy call.
On Wednesday, Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai commended Arif Mohammad Khan following his appointment as the Governor. While praising he said, "The position of Governor holds great respect, and Mr. Arif is highly educated. He shows concern for the poor, the disadvantaged, and the underprivileged. They honor the Constitution. Bihar has an excellent Governor, and the previous one was also very commendable. As stated in the release, the aforementioned appointments will take effect from the date the individuals take on their respective roles."
